Availability

Salem Browser Extension is currently available in the Google Chrome Store, and is coming soon to Microsoft Edge Browser.

Prerequisites

Before starting with Salem in Browser, you must first be a user of Salem in chat. You'll also need to ask your Salem Admin to provide you with the URL of your instance of Salem.

Installation

  1. Find Salem in your browser's extension store:

    1. Google Chrome Store ()

  2. Follow the prompts in the extension store to add the Salem Cyber extension

  3. Once installed, you should now see the Salem chat icon on the bottom right (or left) corner of any web page. If you don't, try to refresh that page, or try opening a new webpage.

  4. Open the Salem extension settings either from your browser's extension settings page or by clicking the Salem icon and selecting settings.

  5. Enter your Salem URL. Ensure the URL is in the format "https://unique.salem.hostname", and select "Save Settings"

  6. Sign in to Salem by returning to the Salem Icon at the bottom of your screen, select "Sign In", and follow the login prompts. A new page will open with a validation code. Copy that code and enter it into Salem.

  7. To include or exclude pages where the Salem action button will be displayed, return to settings and update the domain list. When the Domain Filter is set to "Include Only", Salem will only be active on sites in the Domain List. When the Domain Filter is set to "Exclude", Salem will appear on any page not included in the Domain List. NOTE: for best security, set the Domain Filter to "Include Only".
