Planning a new deployment of Salem

When planning for a new deployment of Salem, consider the prerequisite technologies and Third Party APIs required to support Salem.

Azure

Salem is a self hosted application in the consumer's Azure Cloud Tenant. A customer of Salem must first have an active Azure Tenant and Subscription before deploying Salem. Learn more about Azure Prerequisites and Roles and Network Isolation

Enterprise Chat

Salem interacts with users through other enterprise chat tools. Specifically Salem is available in Microsoft Teams or Slack. These integrations are required to use Salem, as key functionality is only available via the chat interface. Before deploying Salem, ensure you have a supporting chat platform, and that your organization supports third party applications in that chat platform.

Third Party Integrations

Salem requires the use of Third Party integrations to collect, enrich, investigate and report on cyber alerts. Separate instructions exist for how to integrate with various Third Party APIs. It's important to understand how Salem will integrate with each in-scope technology and ensure that Service Accounts can be created with the proper API roles to ensure Salem can leverage that API effectively.
